![]() ![]() He's exceptional in core-content, particularly the early game (when picking from the coach and trying to form usable comps) or late-game when you're in a position to fluff his potencies with proper trinkets. He can fit in any slot in a comp and always have a use. As said, his strength isn't in his potencies - its in the fact he can do anything you want/need, even if it's not awesome compared to specialists. He's smack in the middle - a great generalist who won't beat a specialist at anything, but can cover a tremendous amount of gaps in a composition (in a game all about covering gaps). by taking a Vestal in the first place).ĬRU is not S tier. It's entirely possible to make compositions that lessen the need for healing and shealing (rather than having to 'react' with it - and reactionary play typically only cares about potency above all else, usually because they're set in a way where taking damage or more stress is just common, eg. ![]() Why is Crusader less potent? Because he can do both of those roles simultaneously no matter where he is. Jester and Vestal are the strongest shealer and healer in the game, but not every comp needs that. Those are the only buttons you will ever need for anything in the game. His Stun hits so hard later in the game that I take Smite off the bar entirely and only ever take Heal > Stun > Lance >SHeal. ![]() Crusader excels at the back so you can decide between blowing up a priority or topping up the team, with stuns as an option if pushed up front. If you're not keen on the Crusader, that can often happen with comps that are too slow and/or have him lugging around in Rank 1-2 all day, leaving him no access to Lance and only there to provide a stun or smite, when you COULD just take something like a Hellion instead. DAdvance HWM's when you don't want them ending up in Position 1 at any point in a fight), and decide between cleaning up targets or giving the team some pep. His slow speed also guarantees that he can be consistently used to push the other shufflers back (eg. Holy Lance is undoubtedly his best button, so he'll fit perfectly into shuffle comps and won't care whether he ends up at the back or front when it comes to sustain. He can sheal from any position, which is something no other stress-healer can do (except FLG, who stresses himself in the process). He can heal from any position (which is more powerful than raw potency in various scenarios). He's not there to be better than a specialist, he's there as a panacea (in a game all about risk management). This is yet another case of people's judgement resting on potency (as opposed to flexibility his presence provides).Ĭrusader is the most balanced hero in the game - a generalist with access to pretty much everything, hence the Deus Vult meme even exists. What's with the extremism? It's like the middle-ground doesn't exist any more. What are your thoughts on the Crusader? S Tier, or wasted spot on the roster? But for now, the Crusader has earned a spot on the bench for me. If the Crusader could at least hit rank 3 with smite, I'd reconsider. The Leper suffers from much of the same problems, the higher damage is nice, but his lower accuracy and likewise poor reach and mobility means that he sits rather low on my list. I'd take a Shieldbreaker every time over a Crusader, her ability to hit all ranks means that I can always put damage on targets of opportunity, versus the static nature of the Crusaders skill set. His lack of reach is the real deal breaker. I'd much rather bring a specialist who I can trust to do whatever job is needed in a team, which yields a far more effective turn economy. His "jack of all trades" nature means that nearly every other hero will outperform him in some fashion or another. Only being able to stun the front two ranks means that he's often trying to stun the targets with the highest resist. He sucks at DPS, healing, and stress healing. His healing and stress healing is low enough that he rarely can mitigate the damage of even one enemy turn, so using one of those abilities results in a net loss of health or stress, versus the ideal outcome of killing an enemy.īasically he sucks at everything. The fact that he can only hit ranks 1 and 2 from ranks 1 and 2 means that he always fails to deal damage where it is needed the most. However, every time I use him, he sucks horribly and I wish I'd taken any other character. I've heard of high praise for the Crusader, with some people even ranking him S tier. ![]()
